GoDaddy now sells .si domains

GoDaddy put .si on sale on October 27, eighteen days after joining the registry's list of accredited registrars. The first year is cheap. Renewals cost $21.99, nearly twice what Atom and Spaceship charge.

GoDaddy started selling .si domains on October 27. It announced the launch on X with "Say hi to .si" and a line aimed straight at the AI crowd: "Super intelligence has a domain extension, so claim your .si domain." Its .si page goes a step further, under the headline "Super Intelligence companies call .si home".

Six weeks from "no ETA"

On September 11 someone on X asked whether GoDaddy would let customers everywhere register .si names. Three days later James Iles, who works on domains at GoDaddy, replied: "No ETA at the moment but it is on our radar." GoDaddy told TechCrunch on October 2 that it didn't offer .si yet. A week later, on October 9, it appeared on the registry's list of accredited registrars as GoDaddy.com, LLC and GoDaddy.com LLC, which we wrote about then.

The launch came eighteen days after that. Quick. Spaceship and Namecheap joined the same list around early December 2025 and didn't start selling .si names until October 6, 2026, about ten months later.

How GoDaddy sells it

The page pitches .si as the address for anything built on super intelligence: "Models, tools, apps, platforms." Its FAQ gives GoDaddy's reason the two letters suddenly matter, pointing to a September 2026 executive order in which the US government adopted "Super Intelligence" as its formal term. And it goes after people who already own an .ai name, telling them to "cover all your brand bases and secure an .si domain as well."

Plenty of people buy their first domain at GoDaddy and never shop anywhere else. Until now, if one of them wanted a .si name, they had to open an account at another registrar. Now .si sits in the same search box as their .com.

What it costs

GoDaddy's page advertises .si at $0.01 for the first year. The small print says that price needs a three-year purchase, and in the cart it comes to $43.99 for three years, then $21.99 a year after that. A single year costs $11.99 and renews at $21.99. Two years cost $29.98.

Renewals are where GoDaddy gets expensive. On October 23, Atom charged $10.95 for the first year ($9.95 with the code SILAUNCH) and $11.88 a year after that, and Spaceship charged $10.98, then $11.98. Gname asks $23.55 every year, as we covered when it launched. Over five years, a .si name comes to about $88 at GoDaddy on the three-year deal, around $58 at Atom or Spaceship, and $118 at Gname.

Any of the 103 registrars on the registry's list can register a .si name.

Where .si stands

.si was doing fine without GoDaddy. On October 27 the registry counted 456,757 .si domains, up from 247,789 at the end of September, and registrations have settled at about 2,500 a day since .si passed 450,000. The next few weeks will show whether GoDaddy's customers push that number back up. Our .si statistics page tracks it several times a day.

Before you register

Put the name through our free .si appraisal first. It checks the name against real .si sales and against how many other extensions already have it, then gives you a range. Most .si names that sell go for a few hundred dollars. The five-figure ones are mostly short dictionary words, AI terms, places and two-character names, and our $2 million sales breakdown goes through them name by name.
