Gname added .si to its domain search on October 23. The announcement on X put the price at $23.55 a year, and the same price for renewals:

What $23.55 gets you
A flat price is the selling point here. Many registrars sell the first year of a domain cheap and charge more from the second year on. Gname charges the same for registering a .si name and for every renewal after it, so what you pay in year one is what you keep paying.
The trouble is the price itself: it's about twice what other registrars charge. Atom sells a .si name for $10.95 for the first year, $9.95 with the code SILAUNCH, and $11.88 a year after that. Spaceship charges $10.98 for the first year and $11.98 a year to renew. Over five years, a .si name costs about $118 at Gname and $57 to $59 at Atom or Spaceship. A flat price is easy to plan around, but here it means paying more every year, not less.

Is Gname a .si registrar?
Not on the official list. Gname isn't among the registrars accredited by the .si registry, and it hasn't been at any point since 2020, as far as the copies of that list go. Registrars often sell an extension through a partner that is accredited for it, so selling .si doesn't require being on the list.
It works the other way too. Being accredited doesn't mean a registrar sells .si yet. GoDaddy joined the registry's list on October 9 and hasn't given a date for selling .si names. We wrote about that, and the other registrars that joined this year, in Looks like .si domains are coming to GoDaddy.
Where .si registrations stand today
The registry counted 446,321 .si domains on October 23, up from 247,789 at the end of September: 198,532 more in October so far. On its homepage, the registry also lists 102 registrars.
The rush has slowed since its peak. The busiest day was October 5, with 21,756 new .si names. Over the last three days on record, registrations ran at about 2,650 to 2,800 a day. That's still about as much in one day as the whole .si count grew in a month earlier this year, when it rose by 1,100 to 5,200 names a month.
